Top 10 Wrestling Entrances
You are in an arena. The seats are packed with people of all shapes and sizes. The large room is filled with the collective noise of thousands and thousands of miscellaneous conversations. Silently, you bring out your favorite novel and start reading a few lines from one of the short stories. It’s just your way of passing time while waiting for the big event to commence. Suddenly, an explosion rocks the arena, silencing the sea of conversations. Streaks of light fall from all corners, covering the ramp on the middle-portion of the arena. Behind the explosion appears the wrestling champion. He makes his way to the wrestling ring as everyone begins chanting his name in unison. At that time, you know that you have just been witness to an effective wrestling entrance. If you think you have just witnessed a phenomenon, get a load of the ten greatest entrances in wrestling history.
10. Stone Cold Steve Austin
Austin’s entrance is pretty simple. Once the sound of breaking glass is heard through the arena, you immediately know that the action is about to pick-up. An edgy tune plays as Austin marches to the ring bringing his cans of beer and his bad-ass attitude. Austin’s opponents receive a stone cold stunner or a slap to the face. It’s the perfect entrance for wrestling’s favorite fire starter.

9. DX
Imagine watching a bunch of half naked men walking towards the ring. You find yourself startled as you watch each of them do naughty poses and scream “Suck It!” to the crowd. No, you are not watching a bunch of exotic male dancers doing a steamy routine. You’re probably seeing the lengthy entrance of DX. Made with cool music, naughty gestures and very catchy speeches, DX’s ring entrance is like a tiny stage play. Once they enter the ring, they will verbally attack their opponents or shamelessly promote themselves. Each of the members will then say their catch phrases that satire the famous ring announcer, Michael Buffer. The entrance ends when they all shout “Suck It!” DX has one of the longest ring entrances of all. In fact, their entrance is even longer than some of their matches. Strange as it may seem, a lot of wrestling fans know every word and every act of that ring entrance by heart.

8. Goldberg
The power of Bill Goldberg can never be questioned. His physique is simply astounding. His ability to toss large men from one end of the ring to the other is not often seen in the wrestling world. His winning streak of over a hundred matches is almost impossible to equal. As far as Goldberg’s power is concerned, nothing can display it better than his entrance. The moment that he appears on the stage, he is engulfed in a massive barrage of pyrotechnics. Once the pyrotechnics are turned off, Goldberg will stand there exhaling smoke and looking more ferocious than ever. He will then run to the ring like a man possessed, and then proceed to destroy his opponent.

7. Kane
“Through hellfire and brimstone” says Jim Ross, WWE Raw commentator. He usually throws in this catch phrase every time he sees the intimidating entrance of Kane. With flames, large explosions and Kane’s demonic appearance, Jim Ross had all the reasons for creating a catch phrase perfect for Kane’s entrance.

Kane is a scary individual known for his brutal tactics and his powerful wrestling moves. Before his opponents can even experience that, they will see Kane walk through large explosions and make the ring corners combust with his “supernatural powers.” It would be wise for his opponents to bite fake blood pellets, pray to Papa Jesus and play dead after seeing such an entrance.
6. Mr. Kennedy
There is nothing special about the first half of Kennedy’s entrance. There is nothing exciting about a wrestler walking down the aisle with some spunk, even if he has dyed hair and a cool tattoo on his back. Just when you think Mr. Kennedy is just a wrestling upstart that eventually disappears in a few months time, wait ’til he enters the ring. Once he positions himself on the middle of the ring, all the lights go out. An illuminated microphone goes down and gently drops down on the outstretched arm of Kennedy. A spotlight is then focused on this charismatic superstar. He proceeds to become his own ring announcer and the quality of his voice can rival any WWE ring announcer.

5. Lanny Poffo / The Genius/Computer Man
What can you say about an effeminate toga-wearing wrestler who reads poems from frisbees before every match? How about a geek wrestler that brings a computer to the ring to supposedly compute the moves of his opponents? They probably don’t win too many wrestling matches. That’s a given fact if you look at the history of Lanny Poffo or any of his ridiculous personas. He is chiefly used for entertainment and for making famous wrestlers look good. In other words, he is all about his ring entrance.

4. Ravishing Rick Rude
Claiming to be the sexiest of all, Rick Rude had a way with the ladies, which is exactly what his entrance portrays. He will often select a gorgeous audience member to accompany him to the ring. When they enter the ring, Rude will flaunt his great physique and do a sexy gyration in front of his chosen lady. This often results in loud cheers from the female members of the audience.

3. The Boogeyman
If a wrestling entrance defined by explosions, creepy gyrations and the act of eating live earthworms doesn’t get your attention, you are probably as deranged as its practitioner. The Boogeyman is notorious for his worm-eating antics and his uncanny ability of appearing in cabinets and crevices. He has successfully creeped out some of the most intimidating wrestlers and almost every member of the wrestling audience. Nothing typifies his presence more than his ring entrance. It starts off with him crawling on the ramp. He then stands up and smashes a large alarm clock on his head. As he heads to the ring, he shakes his torso like a rattle and ends the whole debacle by eating a few handfuls of live earthworms. Oh boy, what a lunatic!

2. The Undertaker
Funeral bells, mist and darkness are the key elements to creating the most haunting entrance in wrestling history. For almost two decades, The Undertaker’s entrance has caused his opponents to shake and shiver. It starts off when total darkness engulfs the entire arena. The sound of ringing funeral bells pierces the silence as mist slowly envelopes the ramp area. A soft blue light marks a straight path to the ring. Suddenly, The Undertaker appears. He slowly makes his way to the ring, walking like someone who has been raised from the dead. By some mysterious force, he commands the arena lights to switch on as he slowly removes his hat and gets ready for battle.

1. Hulk Hogan
Hogan’s entrance probably has the strongest recall value among all wrestling entrances. In fact, no old school wrestling fan hasn’t attempted to rip his shirt off with his bare hands en route to doing all the Hulkamania poses. Not all of those attempts were successful though, since not everyone has the strength of an American Hero that Hogan possesses.
Hogan’s entrance was also enhanced by his corny yet extremely catchy entrance music. Once the arena plays it, every audience member instantly gets filled with American pride. They relentlessly cheer for Hogan even before he flaunts his American Hero muscles. At that moment, you can’t help but feel that Hogan has already won the world championship with such a reception.
