Not Sure What to Do for the Weekend?

Thinking
Thinking for this coming weekend

You’re just about to get off work when suddenly you feel at a loss. So much work has been dropped on your desk that you’ve forgotten that there’s actually such a thing called a weekend.

Come the end of your shift every Friday, your two-and-half-days’ worth of fun and relaxation should officially start. However, your mind has been preoccupied with so much lately that you’ve got no plans for Friday night, nor the entire length of Saturday and Sunday.

Don’t fret, though. There are literally thousands of things you could do during the weekend. In fact, you can do almost anything you want, as long as you get to enjoy it. If you’re still trying to find something to do, read on to learn the top ten weekend activities to try.

10. Run Some Errands

Listing my chores

Your boss left you with so much work this past week, you’ve actually forgotten to pay your electric, phone, Internet and water bill.

You have to pick up some toiletries and go to the dry cleaners. Now is the chance for you to do those important errands.

Don’t just go through the motions blindly, though; plan things out. With the number of things you have to do, you probably won’t be able to accomplish all of them in one day. List all your chores, with the first being the most urgent. Afterwards, decide on a course of action. Come Monday, you’ll be thankful you got those things out of the way.

9. Go See a Movie

Check out the listings in the society pages. There might be some film festival that catches your fancy. After all, such festivals cover a wide variety of topics and themes.

Some of festivals are free of admission, so don’t worry about wasting your money on a movie you don’t understand or vehemently abhor. Having shelled out no cash, you’re free to walk in and out of the theater as you please, anyway.

As long as you see something enjoyable, nothing beats watching movies on a weekend: especially the biggest Blockbuster Movies of All Time.

8. Have a Cook-Out

Have you been eating well lately? Has work hindered you from gorging down that scrumptious dish you’ve been craving all week? The weekend is the perfect time to have your friends come over for a cook-out. The idea here is to get your peers into the whole process of preparation. That way, you’re not stressed out. In fact, the company might prove to be insightful, if not just relaxing. After all, a lot can be discussed when chopping onions or kneading dough.

7. Do Some Home Improvement

The runabout of work has pretty much drained you of your social life. Chances are, it has also kept you away from that home improvement project you’ve been meaning to accomplish.

You could start by just cleaning your home. Nooks and crannies might have become burrows for dust bunnies. If you don’t clean up now, the gunk between your bathroom tiles just might gain sentience and revolt against your household.

Still, changing the look of your living room can actually be a project spread across many weekends. In one weekend, you can repaint your living room walls. The next weekend, you can start rearranging your furniture.

6. Go Thrift Store Shopping

Tired to look and shop

Has the busy work week left your wallet full and your palms itching? Don’t go rushing to the nearest mall; after all, you do that every weekend.

Head for the thrift-store district and prepare your bargaining skills. Most merchants put out the best of their wares on Saturdays and Sundays, given that more people are free to roam around.

Remember that home improvement project you’ve been meaning to accomplish? Some bargain stores might have the pieces of furniture you’ve been looking for that will match with the new paint job of your house. Be willing to spend some time looking, as not everything sold in a thrift shop is a significant find.

5. Go on a Road-Trip

There isn’t a better form of escape from the cruelties of the past work week than a road-trip out of town. Your destination could be anywhere – the beach, the mountains, you name it! Take some friends with you, or that special someone you’ve been meaning to profess your love to.

Keep in mind, though, that a little preparation didn’t hurt anybody. You shouldn’t just rush to your car and drive off into the sunset without bringing the necessary provisions with you. Remember, you wouldn’t want to waste away your weekend dealing with problems you could’ve solved only if you brought the things you needed.

4. Go Help a Charity

Whiling away your weekend doesn’t always have to be about fun and relaxation. Sometimes, the soul needs to do some good for it to feel strong and energized.

Head on over to the nearest shelter or foundation and ask about charity activities over the weekend. You could help feed the hungry, or volunteer as a Big Brother or Sister. Generally, you would be spending your weekend spreading some cheer and good will.

3. Go Visit Your Relatives

Before your family decides to disown you, show them you still care by paying some of them a visit. Your aging parents might be reinvigorated having their child back in their presence.

If you’ve been a pretty decent aunt or uncle, for sure, your nephews and nieces miss you. Head on over to your brother’s or sister’s home and get ready to spend a fun-filled afternoon with those cute kids.

2. Go Party!

Be social! Going out on the town to mingle is a truly fun-filled way to spend the weekend. The party could be anywhere – all it takes is for you get into your party clothes and search for the most happening scene.

If the bars and concert halls are too cramped up for your liking, don’t hesitate to bring the party home. That way, you dictate the scene you want to be in. Invite your friends over, and tell them to bring people you’ve never met before. You’ll definitely forget the past week’s worries in no time.

1. Don’t Go Anywhere! Stay Home and Vegetate

Relax
Lay down and relax

Sometimes the perfect choice of a weekend activity is, well, to have no activity at all. If the work week has drained all your energy, now is the chance for you to energize. Don’t be afraid to just take it easy and rest. Come Monday, you may actually be thankful that you didn’t do anything on the weekend.

Endless Possibilities

The weekend should be about doing whatever you want to do. After a stressful work week, you deserve nothing less than a stress-free weekend.

The above list is only ten of literally thousands of things you can do for the weekend. If none of the things tickle your fancy, think of other activities for you to do. You could even ask a friend to help you out. Remember, the possibilities are limitless.
