Kids Watching
They love watching Cartoons
Ah cartoons! For children and adults looking for a little childish entertainment in their lives, watching cartoon shows is one of the most enjoyable options they’ll immediately consider.

How do these programs captivate audiences so? It might be due to their colorful pictures and their vivid animation. It might be because of their short, but funny storylines. Lastly, it might be because of the comical characters that are guaranteed to keep you laughing off your seats.

Maybe we find cartoon characters funny because they can do loads of amazing, annoying and extraordinary stuff. They can jump off cliffs, survive grenade blasts, get hit on the head with large mallets, get rolled on by cars, and punch, bite, kick and hit each other without ever suffering any long-term damage. They remain funny, adorable and exciting to watch.

There are hundreds of cartoon characters on television today that make viewers laugh out loud because of their funny antics. Here are ten popular and funny examples. Check and see if your favorite toon is included in the list!

10. Smarter Than The Average Bear!: Yogi Bear

Yogi Bear
Yogi the Smartest Bear
He’s the funniest, smartest and hungriest cartoon bear you’ll ever run into! Yogi Bear is well-known all over Jellystone Park because of the clever and wacky way to get and eat the picnic baskets of the park’s guests. Together with his reluctant, honest-to-goodness best friend and sidekick Boo-Boo, Yogi bear continues to hatch up schemes to make sure that he gets his fill of yummy basket goodies, much to the dismay and infuriation of the law-abiding, but kind-hearted, Park Ranger Smith.

If you ever wander into Jellystone Park and your picnic basket goes missing, you know who to look for!

Created by Hanna-Barbera Studios, Yogi Bear first appeared in 1958, but only as a supporting character in The Huckleberry Hound Show. When the animators saw how much he made people laugh, he was given his own show in 1961.

9. Brother-Sister Love: Dexter and Deedee

He’s an intelligent boy genius with a high-tech science laboratory hidden behind his bedroom. She’s a goofy, girlish, pony-loving and candy-eating teen who just loves to have fun! When these two collide, they create one of the funniest cartoon shows that’ll have you rolling around with laughter.

Dexter and Dee
Dexters Laboratory
Created by Genndy-Tartakovsky and produced by Hanna-Barbera Cartoons, the Dexter-Deedee tandem is definitely one of the most well-loved brother-sister cartoon tandems in cartoon history. You just can’t help but laugh at how these two squabble, argue, and bicker, especially when they fight!

Deedee always goes out of her way to annoy her little brother, trying to get into his forbidden laboratory. Much to Dexter’s dismay, his precious science haven always gets blown up to smithereens. It’s funny, whacked but amusing at the same time.

8. Hungry but Cowardly: Scooby Doo

He’s got a large appetite, and when faced with a ghost, he’ll definitely be the first to run away with a scream! A talking mongrel with an eye for food, food, food, Scooby Doo is a lovable character made by Hanna -Barbera Productions. The cartoon show has entertained people since 1969. When you mention funny dogs in cartoons, Scooby Doo is included at the top of many people’s list.

Scooby Doo
The Scooby Gang
Scooby Doo fears ghosts with a passion, but ironically enough, he accompanies the Mystery Inc., a group composed of four teenagers, Fred, Velma, Daphne and Shaggy. Driving around in a van called the Mystery Machine, they successfully solve numerous frightening “supernatural” mysteries that are actually criminal plots.

You might not get scared because of the mystery, but you’ll definitely laugh out at the funny antics that Scooby and the gang do while they solve each case. You’ll also become amused at Scooby and Shaggy’s humongous appetites that not even ghosts can frighten away.

Scooby Doo dropped another spot, earning the second to the last spot of our Top 10 Most Famous Characters in Coloring Pages lists.

7. The Conceited Macho Man: Johnny Bravo

Johnny
The Coolest Johnny
Meet Johnny Bravo. He’s handsome, appealing and has the looks of James Dean and Elvis Presley combined. He’s also dimwitted and conceited, with an ego that seems to be always bursting with energy. With his slick blond hair, large body, sunglasses and his trademark black muscle shirt and pants, Johnny might seem like the picture perfect dream boy, but in cartoon reality, all his attempts to get a girl turn out to be disastrous.

Although he might seem like a macho, playboy type, Johnny Bravo has a heart that’s as big as his ego, especially when it comes to the neighborhood girl, Little Suzy, and his darling mother, Bonnie Bravo.

6. The Wacky Ducky: Daffy Duck

What happens when it’s duck season? The eager hunter Elmer Fudd gets out his trusty rifle, takes aim, and fires! Pow! Daffy comes to ruin his day. Full of mischief and with his lisping exclamations dripping with sarcasm, Daffy is one of the most famous ducks in the cartoon world, along with Donald Duck, of course. His naughty tricks often make audiences laugh—especially when they backfire!

Daffy Duck is one of the first “screwball” Looney Tune characters to appear in the late 1930s. Just like the rest of the Looney Toons, there’s no dull moment when watching this duck perform his funny antics.

5. Most Amusing Cat-Mouse Cartoon Tandem: Tom And Jerry

If you’ve ever watched this show, you know there’s one activity that’s never been left out: running! Tom, an energetic domestic cat finds himself constantly annoyed by the cute little mouse, Jerry who tries to steal food from the house.

There’s much chasing, bashing, flailing and squabbling while these two enthusiastically run around trying to beat each other up. It’s funny, wacky and absolutely hilarious. Kids and sometimes even grownups enjoy watching this famous duo.

Tom catches Jerry sometimes, but he never eats the little mouse. Despite constant chasing and bickering, these two remain friends (although they probably will never admit it).

4. America’s favorite wacky cartoon family: The Simpsons

Meet the Simpsons. They’re a typically dysfunctional middle class American family that resides in Springfield. The Simpsons family is composed of Homer, the comedic and careless father; Marge, the steoreotypical mom and housewife; Bart, the energetic ten-year old troublemaking son; Lisa the intelligent and activist daughter; and baby Maggie, who sucks on a pacifier. Each character has a wacky personality that will keep you laughing hard throughout the show.

Along with their equally wacky Springfield neighborhood, “The Simpsons” provides viewers with a comedic cartoon program that shows the viewers the crazy and funny side of American society.

“The Simpsons” characters are created by Matt Groening. Their satirical parody debuted in 1989, and has aired over 400 episodes already. Although it’s very funny, not all ages might be able to understand it, especially since the jokes in the show are directed to a mature audience.

3. Meep Meep!: The Road Runner And Wile E. Coyote

While Tom and Jerry reign when it comes to funny chases inside the home, Road Runner and Wile E. simply rule the outdoors! The lives of these two Looney Tune characters are very simple. It begins with Wile E. dreaming of a delicious roasted road runner dinner. He then hatches unique, sometimes wacky plans to catch his prey. Unfortunately for him, the Road Runner is too fast.

Wile E.’s plans always hilariously backfire, and he ends up injured. Often times, the Road Runner teases him with a “Meep!meep!” and a funny tongue noise, then zooms away again at the speed of lightning.

It’s always worth watching these two. You’ll laugh at Wile E.’s seemingly clever plans, and laugh harder when they come crashing or exploding around him. On the other hand, the Road Runner just runs away happily without any thought about his furious and hungry enemy.

2. Eh…What’s Up Doc?: Bugs Bunny

If you think all bunny rabbits are fuzzy, cuddly and innocent, you’ll think twice when you meet Bugs. Known for his notorious statement, “What’s up, Doc?” his constant carrot chewing and his clever get-back-at-you schemes, this rabbit is one of the funniest characters to ever exist in the cartoon world.

Bugs Bunny is also very clever, always cooking up schemes to get back at his Looney enemies, such as Elmer Fudd, Daffy Duck, Marvin the Martian, Wile E. Coyote and Yosemite Sam. He does get beaten, but very rarely. Oftentimes, he gets the last laugh, before climbing back into his rabbit hole.

Bugs Bunny was created by Looney Tunes back in 1939, originally voiced by Mel Blanc. His confident, funny and charismatic personality makes him one of the most lovable cartoon characters on television.

Although Bugs Bunny made its way to be in the Top 2 Cartoon Icons, he’s not too lucky to snagged the last spot of our Top 10 Most Famous Characters in Coloring Pages lists.

1. The Most Lovable Underwater Toon: Spongebob Squarepants

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? Who else, but the lovable, squishy, and absorbent Spongebob Squarepants! With his square-shaped, porous appearance, this toon is one of the most amusing cartoon characters today.

Spongebob’s personality and the people around him are unique. This lovable and childish character lives in Bikini Bottom and works in the Krusty Krab diner, owned by the money-grubbing Mr Krabs.
