1. Ipod and iTouch

With the rise of technology comes something truly amazing. Touch screen music players with Wi-Fi internet access are the new hotness. They are probably the most futuristic pieces of technology you can hold in your hand. The iPhone (only available for AT&T in the States and Rogers Wireless in Canada) functions like a Phone and an iPod on steroids. With library for music on the hard drive, and stylish white ear buds made famous by Apple you can listen to all your favorite tunes until your phone rings! Simply answer it, converse, and hang up. I haven’t mentioned the videos yet. MP4 videos play in widescreen, and are available for download on iTunes. If you aren’t down with purchasing videos, you can always go to the built in YouTube feature. It works like magic! For those of you wanting the same thing without the hefty phone bill, check out the iPod touch. It is virtually identical without the phone feature.

2. DVD Collections

Lost, 24, Ugly Betty, The Office, and CSI are all popular TV series right now. DVD collections are a great unisex gift, and great for last minute gifts. They sell like crazy because they have a lot of content in one little box. There is hours of seat gripping entertainment on each disk. Whether shopping for your mom, brother, or neighbor, you can’t really go wrong if you know what they’re into. They make gift giving simple, plus they’re really easy to wrap.

With caffeine addictions rising due to the chilly weather in the winter, an espresso or coffee maker is a must-have. Being able to make your favorite drinks whenever you want, for a fraction of the price, is a truly beautiful thing. Bodum coffee presses are also a big hit with budget shoppers. Why pay for a little, when you can get a lot more for less. Enjoy the full aroma and flavors of your new homemade holiday drinks on any occasion.

4. Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock

Guitar Hero 3 is without a doubt one of the most fun and addictive games you will ever get your hands on. With interactive guitar controllers, follow the on-screen rhythm as it comes towards you. It is suitable for all ages, whether or not the person can play guitar. GH3 is a great hand-eye coordination exercise to keep you mentally sharp. With many unlockable features, lovable rock-star characters, and a gripping storyline that makes you feel like you’re about to perform a concert to 100,000 people, this game is truly epic. The game also features characters such as Slash, and a few other mystery guests for added fun. GH3 is available for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Nintendo Wii.

5. Clothing

There’s one thing that will never go out of style as far as Christmas gifts go: clothes. If you remember getting knitted sweaters from your grandmother when you were a kid, you know what I mean. Clothing is an ever-changing statement of society. Novelty shirts are only good for so long, so try to stick with something that you think suits the person. Keep in mind that the seasons after winter aren’t that much colder, so some fashionable clothes for the next season are perfect for anyone’s wardrobe.

6. Event Tickets

From concerts to local shows, sport events, and other activities the person might enjoy add a personal touch to any Christmas gift. If you can afford it, do this. Don’t be afraid to include yourself to events that you share an interest with.

7. The Gift of Music

Whether it is a CD with a personal touch, a mix tape or a store-bought CD, make sure the music says you know the other person on a personal level. Can’t keep up with the trends they follow? Buy them an iTunes gift card!

8. Cologne, Perfume, or Health Products

Now, you have to be careful when presenting these types of gifts. If you know the person is sensitive about their acne, stay away from skin care products. New lines of cologne are sure to get things going for a dude; try breaking them out of their usual scent. Perfume for women is a definite must. Get something with a non-offensive odor and make sure the scent is light and pleasant, rather than heavy and obnoxious, especially if you know she works in an office environment.

9. Wallets, Accessories and More

This is an ideal gift if you haven’t known the person for that long. Make sure the wallet is suited to the person’s personality, whether it is funky and cool, or business casual. Include a small gift card to Starbucks, or their favorite coffee shop or clothing store. Just make sure it is practical!

10. Home-Baked Goodies

This is a gift nobody can refuse. This is the perfect treat for homesick college kids, or distant relatives. For neighbors as well, it is a non-personal gift, but very heartwarming because you thought of them. Nanaimo Bars, Brownies, Shortbread or Gingerbread cookies, you can’t go wrong. If they don’t like them, send all the leftovers to me, and I will enjoy them instead.

No matter who you’re shopping for, remember that it’s the thought that counts. Think about your friend or loved one’s hobbies, interests, and even their favorite colors, and choose something for them that you know they’ll love.

* Exchanging gifts during a Christmas party is a tradition that never goes out of date. These items can bring cheer to the receiver, especially if you know who he or she will be, but what if you need to get a unisex gift? Don’t worry. Here are some personalized Christmas gift ideas you can buy, either for a boy or a girl.
